HOW CAN YOU FIND PASSION IN YOUR WORK-LIFE?

“It’s a beautiful thing when a career and passion come together.” (Unknown)

When we hear the word ‘passion’, first we think about those things or those actions that we like doing. Now let’s stop for a moment and think about it a bit… What are the first five things that come into your mind? Can you mention your work between them?  I hope your answer is yes. In this case you work in that place which fits you the best. There you feel yourself good, honoured and enjoy your job and your position. You like getting up and going to work every morning. You are definitely on the good path, keep on going.

But what happens, if you could not name your work? I think you feel the opposite of what I wrote in the previous paragraph. Now you should ask yourself these questions: Am I working in the most suitable place? Am I doing that I always want to do? If you replied no, but you do not know what you should do to change the situation, here are some tips that help to find passion in your work-life.

Get to know Yourself. It is the most important, but not the easiest thing. But if you know who you are and what you would like to do - or in this case work - it can ease your life. There are many different kinds of techniques, books, tests and tours that can help you. You have to take time with yourself and your own minds.

Set and Write your Goals. See clearly. If you write your goals, you have already taken the first step towards to reach them. Use the S.M.A.R.T. method. It means your goals have to be specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and timely. You can get to know more about it here.

Change, if it is needed. If you think you have to change your job, do not hesitate. Try another one. It can help get to know yourself better and find the best job for you. Push the envelope. Be brave and do not suffer in that workplace where you do not feel passion to work.

Build a good team around you. The psychologists say we are the average of the five people who are around us. Look around and find these people, see who you are. It is important, because if you are in an inspiring community, it can help you achieve your goals and go ahead.

Avoid the whiners. Stay far away from that people who always whine. They are always there and whisper negative things into your ears. They just draw your energies off and break your motivation. Do not let them do that!

I hope with these advices, you can find passion in your work life. If you know who you are and what you want to work, you can get a job easier, because the recruiter will feel you know this job fits you and will see the passion in your eyes.
If you are a Human Resources Manager, you can also advise these tips for your colleagues, if you see they lack passion. Every company can work better and more successful, if motivated people work there.

Finally, always keep Jon Bon Jovi’s thought in your mind: "Nothing is as important as passion. No matter what you want to do with your life, be passionate."
